Our new exhibition, Auld Alliance: France, Scotland, & the Jacobites, is now open in the Jubilee Room of the Battle of Prestonpans Museum. Through a selection of panels from the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry, the exhibition tells the story of Scotland’s military and political alliances with Scotland since 1295 – and the lasting cultural connections which followed it. As well as the tapestry panels themselves, the exhibition features an early 18th century plan of the former home of the exiled Stuart court in France, St-Germain-en-Laye, two French newspapers bearing news of the Battle of Prestonpans, and a French military drill manual from 1746.
The exhibition is open every weekend until the museum closes for Christmas on 17th December 2023.
