Join us for our first event of the new year, marking the birthday of one of Prestonpans’ most famous historical residents.

This in-person talk by our curator Arran Johnston will reveal the fascinating life of adventures led by James Gardiner, from bloody battlefields to the glittery court at Versailles, to his famous death beneath the Prestonpans thorntree. The talk will include an explanation of the artefacts in our museum which relate to Gardiner’s life.

Free entry – donations welcome.

This talk is part of our “Beyond the Battle” project, investigating the people who lived in the battlefield community in 1745, supported by Historic Environment Scotland.
