For 276 years now, the Battle of Prestonpans has been inspired poets, artists, musicians and novelists, creating an impressive cultural legacy which continues to this day.
From now until 30 October, that legacy is celebrated in a special exhibition we are presenting at Haddington’s museum and archive, the John Gray Centre. You’ll be able to see artefacts and artworks as diverse as a letter handwritten by Sir John Cope himself, three panels of the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry, a report of the 1746 Inquiry into the battle, and a 1948 film script!
The exhibition is the second of our fully dual-language displays, with all text and labels available in both English and Gaelic.
